a patient collapsed yesterday.

he was alright in the morning when an Enrolled Nurse and I sponged him. we even joked and talked about his family. a while after sponging him, and after serving breakfast, he pressed the callbell. i attended to him. he asked for his breakfast. but i explained that he's on Nil By Mouth for the time being as he came in for hemoptysis(coughing out blood). he nodded, understood. when i was about to leave his bedside, he reached out for my hand and grabbed it tight. he said,"lapar(hungry)" then i told him that i promised to keep his breakfast till the doctors review him. i did keep his breakfast. that was that.

all settled and i went for my break at 1000hrs. i happily came back at 1045hrs when Rosh told me that 12/3 collapsed. i was shocked and went into the screen. the E-trolley was parked beside him, almost showing asystolic. a senior and i said a prayer for him. and he left....... without his last meal. i stood there stunned and i told my senior about him asking for breakfast. she also said the same thing to me. he had told her the same thing. we almost teared.

and so, i did last office for him and apologized to him. it was heart-wrenching. if i've had known that he's leaving, i would have given his breakfast, his last meal.

if only.

i didn't have a great kick-start upon reaching work this morning. the morning routine was to get to work, changed into my uniform, do up my hair, and out to sign in. but today, i got to work, changed into my uniform, freaked out, called Pei Shan, freaked out, called my clinical coordinator, freaked out yet again, changed to my mafti back(top only), freaked out, got help from a ward staff, do up my hair, still freaking out, changed into something that i thought i'd NEVER wear, went into the tearoom freaking out, changed into my shoes, then finally signed in.

heads turned. same questions asked. same old replies to them questions. just like a tape recorder rosak(spoilt). i was the centre of attraction, hokay! u guys must be wondering what happened this morning rite?

though it was a bit "revealing" on both top and bottom part, it was super comfy. i still look good though. haha!

and u guys must be wondering what happened to my uniform huh? well, the zip of my blouse of my pantsuit gave way, before i even get to zip it! i don't know how, but yeah, it happened. lucky thing i was not sent home, and was allowed to continue my shift. phew!

for goodness sake, don't give "i was busy settling things here and there" as an excuse lah. that's just so lame.
